Dave Winer has been talking about TinyUrl and some thoughts/issues he has regarding their service. Basically he says that we are subject to them going down, having troubles or even ceasing to exist. While all good points, he suggests that publishers should run their own url shortening service. I have some simple thoughts on that too... Your service might break... (more)

I am addicted to Dave Winer's "NYTimesRiver". It takes all of the RSS feeds from the New York Times, grabbing them every couple of minutes, and puts them in chronological order, newest first. Is it just me, or did Apple add an iPhone tab to the top of their website today for the iPhone.... in-between "Store" and "iPod/iTunes". Pretty cool, I can't wait! What are the value of domain names these days...? You could always go and look at something like the Domain Name Journal and see the latest "registered" sales (click on the corresponding year to see the list of known sales... 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007). Parking is a problem in Santa Monica. Anyone will tell you so. Where I live it can be especially bad. On the corner of my block is a Post Office. There was this great book which was made into a movie and has now become a television show, "Friday Night Lights". All of which is about high school football in Texas, revolving around a state powerhouse team. When on tour with the Grateful Dead, at certain shows we wouldn't allow any liquids in due to drugs (you don't want to know what gets put in a spray bottle at a Dead show...). Went for a boat ride on the Tonle Sap lake, the largest lake in Southeast Asia. Very interesting once you can get past the smell.... Went to Banteay Srei and it was amazing.... I know that I keep saying that it's all amazing, but it is. This location especially. Today I went to Udong Cambodia with my tour guide. It was the former capitol of Cambodia prior to it moving to Phnom Penh, about 30 Km away. The drive was really interesting as we drove through the outskirts of town and saw these houses built above a lake and along the river.... They were farming fish in man made... (more)

So here I am.... Finally after what was 36 hours by calendar, 18-19 hours flying and 7 hours of layovers, etc. Man was I tired :o)! First thing you notice when you get off the plane is that it's hot and humid.... I mean really humid! Beautiful airport, new shiny as compared to Vietnam, which I am sure was built... (more)
